Sri Lanka

At School Of Life, we focus on developing your child through real-life experiences. Our mission is to provide not just academic knowledge, but to also demonstrate the real-world value of what they are learning.

Our tailor-made curriculum ensures your child’s growth both academically and personally. We believe that education extends beyond the classroom and should be applied in all aspects of life.

Join us in nurturing well-rounded individuals ready to thrive in the real world.

Young minds

During your child's years with us, we are dedicated to helping them understand the world around them while following the British curriculum. Our primary focus is to instill a love for learning and an appreciation for the meaningful benefits that education brings to their everyday lives.

Through a rich blend of field trips, discussions, hands-on practice, and other interactive activities, your child will gain a deeper understanding of their environment. They will learn to both protect the world and utilise its resources to their fullest potential.

Join us in cultivating curious minds that are eager to explore, learn, and grow.

Nurturing a connection to nature

At our school, we cultivate a love for nature and the ocean in our youngest learners, immersing them in Sri Lanka’s breathtaking landscapes. Here, children don’t just learn—they explore, play, and connect with the world around them.

Our little adventurers care for animals, build enclosures, and discover the joys of outdoor learning. Through surfing, swimming, and beach conservation, they develop resilience, confidence, and a deep appreciation for the ocean that surrounds them.

Unlocking potential through sports

At School of Life, we view sports as more than just physical activity—they’re an opportunity for students to develop teamwork, discover their own potential, and understand personal growth. With a wide variety of sports, including basketball, football, cricket, swimming, surfing, and more, we ensure every child finds something that sparks their interest. Our programs are designed to cater to each student’s unique passions and abilities, encouraging them to explore, push their limits, and progress both as individuals and team players.

Our vision

We are committed to growing alongside our students, allowing us to better understand their needs and provide the best opportunities. Our ambition is to support students from infancy up to university, a vision that we understand will take time to achieve.

Our primary focus is to create an optimal environment, establishing strong academic and community foundations. Like any living entity, our school’s growth will be gradual and steady.

Our initial steps include starting classes for ages 5 to 7 (Form 1 and 2) alongside a preschool for ages 3 to 5. The preschool will emphasise soft skills, helping children understand their surroundings in a fun, social manner while preparing them for their early school years.

Forms One and Two will concentrate on Key Stages 1 and 2, based on the curriculum for children aged 5–7 in England and Wales, focusing on reading, writing, mathematics, speaking, listening, social skills, and general knowledge.

Each year, we will open a new class, ensuring a seamless experience with School Of Life, allowing children to build deeper connections with their school, teachers, and classmates.

School Of Life

Why here? Why now?

Two friends, Paul and Sebastian, spent the most formative years of their lives in Sri Lanka, and from the moment they arrived, they fell in love with the country's beauty and its people. Accumulating over 40 years of living in Sri Lanka collectively, they proudly call this land their home.

Their story began at a prestigious international school in Colombo, where their friendship blossomed. Despite diverging paths for higher education, their bond remained strong. Sebastian devoted over 20 years to a family-run charitable project in Colombo which focussed on education, building on the success of his company in Germany, Paul ensured that its efforts supported charitable projects in Sri Lanka.

Despite their individual journeys, their love for Sri Lanka has never faded, and they now have families of their own. Witnessing the dedication of students and teachers in Sri Lanka, they identified a gap—while passion was abundant, there were often limited resources to truly maximise the potential of both core and non-core subjects.

This realisation led to the creation of School Of Life. The institution focuses on project-based learning, enabling students to understand how their studies relate to the real world. Guest speakers from various professions will join classes to share their experiences, inspiring students to explore new avenues they might not have considered.

Additionally, School Of Life boasts a spacious property where students can learn about the natural world through planting and caring for vegetation and animals. A state-of-the-art play area encourages children to engage with one another, fostering empathy and teamwork.

The school aims to bring a fresh perspective to education in Sri Lanka, not by changing it, but by enhancing the learning experience. The aim is to help students discover their passions and guide them to become successful contributors to the world.
